Fun to read and ponder on. Like many professionals, he no doubt is often asked to share his expertise with others, and he responds here with his descriptions of the background of photo projects, while clearly showing the technical and creative processes of getting publishable pictures. I preordered from Amazon and got my copy last Thursday.

With it portraits of interesting people, both in front of and behind the camera and it insights into the challenges, sacrifices, joys mcnallly frustrations of being a professional photographer, The Moment It Clicks is simply an amazing read. Got my copy from Amazon yesterday and just started reading it last night. I may never be as successful as you have been, but be damned sure I will be as passionate.
I check it every day. In The Moment It Clicks an internationally acclaimed photographer Joe McNally tells about the 30 years of his photographic career, shares the stories behind his most amazing images and techniques he has been using to create them. It took me 3 days to read the book and it was hard for me to let it out of my hands.
Had to shoot volleyball ladies ish the other day and was picturing water polo in my head and smiling to myself. The information he gives are really specific to that kind of photography.
I may cclicks start to think I am one of the best photographers around. For instance, in the mini-chapter on Ken Kesey, McNally refers to a “tai stick. If you have some lighting handle it will give you a push further. Proud 80’s baby, reader of graphic novels and movie geek! Mcnallt loved the funny stories revealing how he talked subjects into letting him get the shot cllcks wanted as well as the stories on solving technical problems on the fly with less than conventional methods.
I pick up your book every chance I get and often find myself making opportunities happen thee the neglect of my obligations.
The pictures were so good and I must admit quite intimidating. You are the motivation that is taking me from part time pro to full time. When that rhe works properly, a picture extracted from a frozen moment in a changing world results in something of value which contains an element that will be otherwise gone forever.
A mkment weeks after he took his portrait, the legend rocker died. I am inspired and unable to sleep for the visions put before me!

They are scrambling thd the second run, and printing about 25, as we speak. It is an absolutely perfect description. They are worth every penny! He also has shot commercial assignments for Target, Nikon, and Sony, to name a few. It really is one of the best, and definitely the most readable, of any photography book I own.
